Chapter 8: Context and Production

Context and Production are definitely the most important aspect of artwork that every graphic designer should consider on no matter what kind of work that they will be working on. In this chapter, it talks about many different aspects of context and production, but to me personally, image resolution and printing are really interesting to learn more about them. From my work experience, I sometimes struggled on proper image resolution since nowadays we have different kind of social network platforms; as a result, every artwork that I had to public would have different size and resolution. Sometime we have know beforehand that if we should work on RGB or CMYK because different works are required to use in different places. RGB is good for works that will be shown on digital screen; on the other hand, CMYK is good for works that will be printed. Therefore, knowing what to use beforehand is really helpful, and will make our designs work smoothly.

CHAPTER 7: Layout and arrangement

This chapter is talking about layout and arrangement which is really essential to graphic designers. Knowing what you are you trying to go for, and how are you going to arrange your work is a must. If you start working on your pieces without knowing what kind of layout that it's going to be used can give you a tough time. In this chapter, scale and placement are one of the elements that is brought up. To me, using the right scale and proportion are really effective to my works since when I arrange things in my work, I would look for the most important thing first, and then I'll emphasize that part as the most important or the biggest part of my work. I prioritize what to go big or small in my works. It's important to learn about layout and arrangement, and we should learn how to use them effectively.

Chapter 6: Using and Creating Imagery

Using the right images that suit to your work is essential. According to the book, people tend to understand visual than text. That makes using imagery important in artworks. Using icons is really helpful as well since people tend to focus on images than text. I personally like using icons because they are easily recognizable and easy to remember. Icons particularly special is perhaps the fact that their meaning can be understood without having to add any text or further details.
